THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., Jan. 5 -- Amgen Inc. (Nasdaq: AMGN), the world's largest biotechnology company, today announced it has begun accepting nominations for the 2004 Amgen Award for Science Teaching Excellence in California, the company's statewide recognition program for science education. Five K-12 educators who work in either public or private schools in California will each receive an unrestricted $10,000 award from Amgen, and statewide recognition, at a special award ceremony in Los Angeles in May.
