THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., October 9, 2002 -- Amgen (NASDAQ:AMGN), the world's largest biotechnology company, today announced that it will report third-quarter 2002 financial results on Wednesday, October 23, 2002, after the financial markets close. The announcement will be followed by a conference call at 2:00 PM (PDT) with the investment community, featuring Kevin Sharer, Chairman, CEO and President and other members of Amgen's senior management.

Live audio of the conference call will be simultaneously broadcast over the Internet and will be available to members of the news media, investors and the general public. The conference call is expected to last approximately one hour.
